Barcelona vs Real Madrid - El Classico #2, 2012

Super classic ends in a super victory for Real and Jose!

Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho tamed Barcelona in their own backyard to place one hand on the league title and make Pep’s life at Camp Nou fragile.

The league finally came down to this game. The entire footballing fraternity was awaiting this game. The only change to the script was that, unlike previous games, Real were not let down by referees. Real did not finish just short, but came up thumping and shift the power base back to the capital!
Pep Guardiola’s side was expected to beat Real Madrid and reduce the points gap to one, which was 10 a month back. Barcelona started a 3-4-3, with youth teamer Tello starting ahead of Pedro and Sanchez (both of whom are fighting for form and fitness).

The Special “Mou” Effect

All along, Jose Mourinho was nowhere in the news. He let Karanka handle the media and his team do the talking on the pitch!

The Special One

To prove a point that his team selection was not flawed in the previous game against Bayern, Mou selected the same side. And how good that proved to be!

This was not a usual ‘park-the-bus’ game against Barca, but a game wherein Real challenged Barca to break their defense. The possession was 78-22 in favour of barca, but Real won the game. Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Dani Alves were completely over shadowed by the brilliant back four. Xabi and Khedira contributed vitally.

The ‘Opener’

Real had scored 107 goals prior to this game. They needed one more to surpass their own record of 107 league goals. And who would have predicted Khedira, of all, to score the record breaking goal?!

Pepe provided the assist, Khedira beat Puyol to score the opener. Wow! This epitomized Madrid, as they deservedly took the lead.

Khedira scores, but look at Puyol :P

Barca pressed forward, tikki-takka, roamed about half a dozen kilometers with passes, but to no avail. I wonder Pep will ever forget the lesson Real taught his team, in having a “deadly” defense.

The Equalizer

Camp Nou was reckless. They would have never thought that their worst enemy would score first and remain in the lead for over an hour. So, when Alexis Sanchez score the equalizer of a goal mouth scramble, they erupted.

False Hope J

The Man with the Golden Boot

Who is the leading assist provider in the Liga?
Who is the leading scorer in the Liga?
What if these two combine?!

Mesut Ozil, who was in such a brilliant form in the previous Classico, was at his best yet again. As soon as Sanchez scored, no one would have even cared to see who had the ball. Rather cules would have not even noted the man on the ball, as the ‘10’ , thanks to this extraordinary vision, provided perhaps the assist of the season, to find out Ronaldo.

Ozil with that master class assist

Rest is history!
Let this image depict what happened!

Here come #32 to Cibeles!

A big game flop? Ask Pep! CR finished off the move to completely burry Barca.

The Special Win

Look at Pepe!

The last few minutes was quite frantic, as Barca luckily managed to keep Real at bay, as Mou’s men showed stronger fitness levels and importantly, the desire to succeed!

Real have now one hand on their liga #32, miles ahead of Barca’s #21   :P

Jose Mourinho, also created a record by winning his fourth title in as many leagues. And this will be the end of an era for Barcelona. Good bye cules.

The talking picture!
Raul silenced the Nou Camp a decade back, now CR calms them down :P
