Bundesliga, EPL & La Liga - News and Rumours - Dec 16th

News and Rumours - Dec 16th

By Shivashankar

The last thread dealt with the news and rumors clouding the Serie A. Here's a compilation of the latest news and rumours doing the rounds across England, Germany and Spain.

AVB vows to get Torres back to his goal scoring best!

"For me, it's indifferent who puts it in the back of the net" - AVB

With Anelka and Drogba set to leave Stamford Bridge in the near future, AVB has revealed that he would ensure that Fernando Torres doesn’t go down as the costliest flop in the history of British football!

He also made a super statement regarding strikers, "A player who wears the number nine lives for goals and a player who is a striker lives for goals.” (Torres, ears open?!) He also added "That's one of the prerogatives of the manager, to try to get the best out of everybody.

This guy is definitely yet another legend (like Mourinho) in the making!

Balotelli and Micah Richards in a brawl!

Recently photographs have emerged depicting a clash between super Mario and Richards during a practice session, ahead of Sunday's Barclays Premier League game against Arsenal.
But Richards tried to pacify the news, by spurting out some nonsense!

"Me & mario are all good! These things happen in training & we shook hands after. It shows passion!"

Donovan ‘lands’ at Goodison park again!

Landon Donovan, after winning the MLS Cup with LA Galaxy, is all set to return to Everton for a two months loan. The loan deal would last until after the derby against Liverpool on February 25. The 29 year old Donovan had a successful loan spell at Goodison Park for a similar period in 2010.

David Moyes was extremely happy with the move and said "I am delighted that we have managed to get Landon back. He will give us some good experience over January and February.

Chelsea’s winter target: Gonzalo Higuain

I had a ROTFLOL moment when I came across this rumour. AVB and Chelsea aren’t so brainless to even enquire about Higuain’a availability (That too in the winter transfer window :P). Real and Mourinho, definitely, won’t sell him off.

Mourinho is the best signing ever- Perez

For once, we all agree with Perez’s transfer target! Florentino Perez has stated that "Signing Jose Mourinho has been my best decision as president of Real Madrid. Apart from all his obvious qualities he has shown that he never gives up no matter how great the challenge.”

Well said Perez! You are spot on this time.
(It is absolutely wonderful that, Perez has finally placed very high beliefs on a manager. The last person he did so, for a while, was Vincete Del Bosque – one of the greatest football managers in modern football. )

David Villa…aaaggghhh – out for 6 months

Villa and Pep suffered a setback amidst a Club world cup semifinal victory over Al Saad, as suffered a fracture to the tibia in his left leg. The striker is definitely out for 6 months.
Meanwhile, Alexis Sanchez was also declared injured in the same game!

The ‘Flying’ Dutchman – Arjen Robben

Bayern’s 2-1 victory over Stuttgart at the Mercedez-Benz Arena has not gone well with many across Germany and also throughout the footballing world. Robben’s theatricals, following tackles by the Italian Molinaro, ensured that Molinaro was sent off after just 30 minutes.

Even Germany sporting director Matthias Sammer offered a not-so-complimentary opinion on the issue. "It is clear that Robben waits for such situations and makes the most of them".

(With Robben around, Bayern not only exhibit ‘Rob-bery’ , but also a heavy dose of ‘dive-ery :P)

Alexander Helb gets the boot, er, again!

"It's very, very unfortunate," said Felix Magath, Wolfsburg’s man in charge.
Long long ago, Hleb (remember?!) was a successful midfielder, as Arsene Wenger had groomed the Belarusian into a match winner. Now, after a series of injuries and unpleasant stints with a few clubs, Hleb is feeling the heat yet again.

Hleb joined the Wolves in August on a short-term switch from Barcelona but injuries have restricted him to four appearances. And with his deal ending on December 31, Wolfsburg boss Felix Magath has confirmed the 30-year-old will leave over the winter break.

"I would have gladly exercised the option to keep Alex but with the injury problems he has had we cannot do that.”Felix Magath

Schalke aim to extend Huntelaar’s stay

The classy forward, whose contract is set to expire in 2013, has been in tremendous form for the ‘Royal Blues’. Following unsuccessful club stints at Real Madrid and AC Milan, the Dutchman has rediscovered his goal scoring panache, having scored 15 goals this season and also assisting a handful.

According to reports surfaced in Germany, Schalke 04 and Huntelaar are set to have contract talks soon. Raul and Jeffren Farfan are the other players, who have been linked to a move away from the club due to expiring contracts.
